I know this is a pretty popular blog post, but since I only started this blog a couple weeks ago, I figured this would be a good way for you guys to get to know me. Let’s get started!

#1 I Was Adopted

I was born in Vietnam in a one room hut with a dirt floor. Eight months later, I was adopted by a wonderful French couple. I am extremely lucky to call them my parents, and I am so grateful that they chose to adopt me.

My Parents and Me

#2 I Lived in France For Five Years

After my parents adopted me, we lived in Grenoble, France, until I was five years old. In Grenoble, my dad was working for HP, and when I was five, HP gave my dad the opportunity to work for them in the U.S. My parents had the choice of California, Colorado, or Texas. Since we were living in the Alps, Colorado seemed like the perfect choice. My parents decided to move because they thought it would be good for me to learn English and experience another culture. When we first moved, they kept saying it would only be for a few years- maximum four. Now, almost fifteen years has gone by and all three of us (plus my cat) still live in Colorado.

#3 I Love Mountains

Since being adopted, I have been surrounded by mountains. When I lived in Grenoble, my parents would take me skiing and hiking all the time. So, my love for the outdoors and the mountains started at an early age. Moving to Fort Collins, Colorado, didn’t change our outdoor activity since we’re so close to the mountains. Even though I don’t live at home anymore because I’m currently studying in Boulder (which isn’t very far from Fort Collins), I still ski and hike with my parents or my friends on the weekends.

#4 My Cat’s Name is Chester

I know I’ve mentioned having a cat in my About Me page, but I haven’t written much about him. Well, his name is Chester and he loves to sleep and eat. For me, the hardest part of not living at home is that I don’t get to cuddle with him everyday. Even though I am allergic to cats, I love Chester too much to not cuddle with him. Over the years, I have found ways to deal with my allergy so that sleeping with my cat every night doesn’t end up with the sniffles everyday. A post on that will be coming in the future πŸ˜‰

#5 I Love Travelling

My parents love travelling and exploring new places. So, from a young age, I have been exploring the world, little by little. In recent years, we haven’t had time to travel much because of school and work. However, throughout my lifetime, I am hoping to travel to all the countries I haven’t been too yet.

#6 I Want to Go to Medical School

Ideally, I would love to go to Cornell Medical School because it has always been my dream in live in New York. I’m not sure what kind of doctor I want to be yet. So far, I have thought about becoming a psychiatrist or working in the ER.

#7 I Want to Work for Doctors Without Borders

For a few years now, I have been following the activity of Doctors without Borders. Watching everything the doctors do is extremely inspiring and I would love to do the same thing when I am done with Medical school.

#8Β I am Lactose IntolerantΒ

Funny enough, I didn’t become lactose intolerant until I was a Junior in High School. My parents thought I would be lactose intolerant when they adopted me since the majority of Southwest Asians cannot digest lactose. However, when I was a baby, I wanted to drink chocolate milk ALL THE TIME. I still do, actually, but with lactose free milk.

#9 I am a Minimalist…. in Progress

Last year, I discovered minimalism and really enjoyed the concept. After reading more about it, I decided to try it out. My progress has been slow, but I am slowly decluttering my life- both materially and mentally. One thing that has helped me on this journey is the Minimalism Amino app (available on android and apple).

#10 I Love Baking

One of my dream jobs was to either be a pastry chef in a world-renowned restaurant, or to open up my own little pastry shop. Baking is one of the many activities that relieves stress for me and it is also a way for me to be creative. Whenever I have time, I’ll turn the TV on, usually to a food related show or movie, and bake.

Let me know if you guys relate to any of these or tell me ten things about you in the comments!

Plein de bisous,

A Bonnie Bon
